A Place For Solitude

ideal for overnight and more

Catherine’s Cottage

Catherine’s Cottage (named for Catherine McAuley, foundress of the Sisters of Mercy), is a duplex of two single suites that serves, in a special way, those persons who want a unique experience of time spent apart for prayer and solitude.

Each suite has one queen bedroom and full bathroom (complete with furnishings and linens); living room with a desk, chair and reclining sofa; meditation/prayer space with comfortable seating; kitchen with refrigerator, microwave oven and toaster. The units are enhanced with skylight and windows throughout, French doors that open to an outside deck with views of the vast and natural beauty, ceiling fans, air conditioning and internet connectivity.

Overnight resident charges include healthy meals provided in the Retreat Center. The suites are equipped with hot water dispenser and coffee maker, and guests are welcome to bring provisional refreshments of their choice. Guests can schedule appointments for spiritual direction, massage, or arrange their stay during the time of a scheduled retreat (additional charges will apply). All rates apply to “single” resident occupancy.

“In the morning, long before dawn, he got up and left the house, and went off to a lonely place and prayed there.”

Mark 1:35

“When you are able to create a lonely place in the middle of your actions and concerns, your successes and failures slowly can lose some of their power over you. For then your love for this world can merge with a compassionate understanding of its illusions. Let us therefore live our lives to the fullest but let us not forget to once in a while get up long before dawn to leave the house and go to a lonely place.”
